My name is 亚当·里夫斯, and I teach biology courses at 西北Vista 大学. 我是怎么来到这里的? This seems to be the most common question that I get from students. I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and moved to 圣安东尼奥 for college. After completing my undergraduate degree at UTSA, I decided that I wanted to devote my career to research, especially microbiology. 我报读了博士学位.D. program at UT 健康 Science Center at 圣安东尼奥 and joined a lab working on stress signaling in an organism called Bacillus subtilis. During my training, I started teaching courses for St. 菲利普的大学. This was to be my calling. I enjoy the interactions with students, and I sometimes feel that I learn more from the students than they do from me. After graduation from the 健康 Science Center, I completed some post-doctoral work and continued teaching. 我的妻子, my soon to be born son, and I were planning to move to another city, where I could resume my research training when I got a call from 西北Vista 大学. They indicated that they needed an instructor to take over a full-time roll. Besides having a wonderful family, taking this job was the best thing that has ever happened to me. On the outside of work, I spend my time chasing my son and riding my bike.
